US warns space companies about foreign spying

U.S. counterintelligence agencies issued a warning to the American space sector, saying that it should be on the lookout for attempts by foreign intelligence outfits .

A U.S. counterintelligence officer said to Reuters, "We anticipate growing threats to this burgeoning sector of the U.S. economy,".

"China and Russia are among the leading foreign intelligence threats to the U.S. space industry."

An unnamed foreign entity was using cyberattacks and techniques like strategic investment through joint ventures and acquisitions to gain access to the U.S. space industry

 FBI, the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

This is the most recent effort by the federal government to bring attention to a problem that has troubled counterintelligence authorities for years

 U.S. space sector invests billions in creating new rockets and other equipment.

U.S. officials have claimed for years that Chinese hackers are attempting to steal sensitive information related to aviation, space, and satellite technology 

China, including radiation-hardened power amplifiers and circuits, Chinese native Tao Li was given a 40-month jail term in 2019.
